It's Not just for Content

If you're an entrepreneur, business owner or brand you are probably well aware that you also have to be a content creator. We've all come to terms with it. But I think our brand shoots often get swallowed in the rush to have something to post on social media.

There is strategy behind branding shoots for your website just like there is on social media. Let me break it down for you.

The Homepage Hero Image

This isn't just a photo that's intended to look cute. This photo should literally be the cornerstone of your marketing and website. It should set the vibe for everything, give potential clients an idea about what your price point will be, reinforce your messaging and positioning and you might even sneak some of your brand values in there.

If you want a very strong example of this, check out Glossier.com

This hero image is strong. It's clean, simple and modern which is an excellent representation for the brand. There is an appropriate place for the headline and text. It feels very fresh and it evokes a strong emotion within someone. You might even be able to smell the flowers on the page. But it also feels extremely elevated which reinforces the price point. This is exactly what you want your potential clients or customers to experience on the first page of your website.

The About Page Authority Image

The authority image goes on your about me page. It's the image that should begin creating trust with your potential clients and customers. This should be an image that represents you. Not you walking, not an action shot, but you looking at the camera so that clients and customers can see your face.

Take Marie Forleo as an example.

On her about me page she has up right posture, intentional styling and she is making direct eye contact with the camera. Her image shows Authority but also approachability and powerful energy. This is a premium brand and when you look at this image of her on her about me page, you feel that.

The Offer Section Conversion Image

Last but not least, this image is intended to sell sell sell, that's why it's on your offer page. This page should have your photos of you in action, your process, your transformation. Maybe showcase tools you use on a regular basis. Potential clients or customers want a peak behind the curtain and this is where you can give it to them .

Take Shopify for example.

Their website is a machine. It shows examples of store mock ups, visual demonstrations, social proof, results. Basically anything and everything that you could possible want on a conversion page, they have it. I know most small business may not have a conversion machine quite at the level of Shopify. But make sure your offer section conversion image is one that removed friction between the customer, and the purchase.
